When designers get to design for themselves, be it their own office or their home, it’s a wonderful opportunity to test ideas and to express themselves in a deeply meaningful way

Designing a home for your family, is also a deeply personal experience and a unique chance to experience your own work.

This house in Farrer is the home of our director Sarah and her family. The house was built in the late 60s and was already much loved. With only one owner prior to being purchased by Sarah and her husband, it became the perfect solution for the family who had long wanted to call the leafy southern suburb their home.

Renovations of the home centred around creating a larger kitchen that could become a true heart to the home, a connection between bedrooms and the light filled living areas. A primary bedroom with walk in robe and ensuite was designed to fit within the former formal dining space, and an upgrade to the windows and façade gave the whole house a fresh, softer presence on the street.

The final result is not just an incredibly elegant space that is testament to the skill and style of the designer herself, but to the love and respect that she has for the role of our homes in providing intimate, warm spaces for our families to grow within.
