Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA)
BRISBANE, AUSTRALIA
Nestled into Brisbane’s CBD, a workspace crafted for flexible working and productivity came to life for Australia’s Civil Aviation Safety Authority.
Nestled into Brisbane’s CBD, a workspace crafted for flexible working and productivity came to life for Australia’s Civil Aviation Safety Authority. With their staff at the forefront of their work, CASA Brisbane looked to The Mill to better their work environment and ensure it was fit for their team. Through a number of face-to-face workshops and group discussions, we identified the key elements that their staff wanted and needed for an adaptable and positive place to work.
As a brand, CASA saw opportunity to reinforce their values, culture and mission through the physical environment of their Brisbane office. Focusing on key elements of aviation, we developed a suite of graphics to be carried throughout the space including runway markings and arrows, as well as aircraft inspired fixtures such as portholes in doors and pop rivet detailing on joinery.
Looking outwards to a city of skyscrapers and blue skies, the office combined elements of its local environment to form the design palette. With a striking use of cool-toned colours, the office coupled warm natural finishes to bring light and a sense of space to the area.
With an abundance of functional spaces built for collaboration, it was essential that the CASA team also had quiet zones and breakout areas for times of focused activity. Choosing to accommodate a mixture of work styles ensures the space is equipped for all levels of staff, fostering a place of positive culture and progression.
